Sewing: Pants for Kate

Anna and Julia made fleece PJ pants a while ago - didn't take Kate long to demand some too.  I didn't love the pattern Anna and Julia used (though they like them fine) so for Kate's I used Dana's tutorial for making your own pattern here, using knit pants Kate wears all the time.  They turned out great and she loves them, and they were easy and fast.

This next pair I finished last fall.  I saw this tutorial for convertible cargo pants at Aesthetic Nest and couldn't resist.  They were not as quick to sew (though the tutorial was clear and easy to follow) because of all the pocket details but they are so darn cute!  I had to adjust the waistband to add some length but otherwise they fit great.  She loves these too.  We're still waiting for spring to arrive so we can use the convertible part.  C'mon, it's May!

And because I'm thinking about how much she has grown up (and because I don't have any shots of her wearing the above pants) here is a picture of Kate two years ago, in the spring, wearing a yellow gingham peasant top I made her:

Kate is the easiest to sew for, being the littlest and least opinionated.  I have a long list of things to make for her this year before she's not so easy to please!

  1. Both Kate and the pants you made are super cute! And I love the peasant top you made her, Elasha. I should make some for Mesi. Although she is at the age when all her clothes are super stained....maybe I should wait.
