We do a lot of our sewing around here on Saturday nights. It is usually the only window of time I have that is quiet and undisturbed. Sometimes it is just me; other times I plan a sewing night with the girls or Dallin. Right now I'm hoping to hook Anna while she's still young. So far she loves it. She got a sewing machine for Christmas, and has been pretty excited to learn to use it.
As with everything else around here, we have to be flexible and take what we can get. So if, for a few weekends, Saturday night sewing doesn't work out, then you have to sneak in some sewing on a Wednesday, which is what we did last night!
A few years ago I made sewing bags for the girls for Christmas. They hold small stashes of fabric, felt, and sewing supplies. Anna has mostly done hand-sewing till now and finally used the fabric from her bag to make a pillowcase. It was a perfect project for a beginner and she's pretty proud.
This morning I asked her how she liked her new pillowcase. Her reply: "Well, I didn't really sleep much better on it!"
It's so fun to see your sewing projects! I am not much of a sewer, but I do enjoy doing it for simple craft projects. I tried to get Emma interested in sewing, but she has never been very interested. Grace, on the other hand, is very interested. I would love some more ideas for simple sewing I can do with her!
ReplyDeleteOK, I will try to keep posting them! When they're young is the best time to get them started.
